I have never made bread without a bread machine. I was a bit worried this would not turn out. The bread bowls turned out awesome! My family loved them with chili.
I might try to make bread bowls with a different bread recipe. I think guests would think they're adorable. ^^
These homemade bread bowls are so fun and delicious! I found them quite easy to make. I followed the recipe as stated as bread is not my speciality. I made 4 bowls with this recipe; each dough ball was around 4" in diameter when I shaped it initially. The end result was so tasty with the broccoli and potato soup I served!

To make bowls: Cut a 1/2 inch thick slice from top of each loaf; scoop out centers, leaving 3/4-inch-thick shells. Fill bread bowls with hot soup and serve immediately.
